Guo Yang is a fiber artist whose practice bridges material exploration and spatial expression. He previously served as a teaching assistant and completed his master's studies at the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, China. He holds dual bachelor's degrees from the Academy of Arts & Design and the School of Economics & Management at Tsinghua University. Guo Yang was also selected as a resident artist at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris.
His research examines the intersection of photography and embroidery, focusing on the transformation of photographic imagery into textile patterns. He also explores the tactile language of knitting techniques, with particular emphasis on integrating dynamic, living materials to enhance the materiality and sensory experience of fiber art.
Guo Yang has exhibited his work in and contributed to the organization of several prestigious international events, including the Lausanne to Beijing International Fiber Art Biennale, the China-Japan Fiber Art Triennale, and the Seoul International Fiber Art Festival. His work blends traditional techniques with contemporary artistic expressions, pushing the boundaries of fiber art while exploring innovative intersections between art, design, and technology.
